The environmental investigations undertaken for the Master Plan include:

  • Soil and water quality
  • Methane gas
  • Flora and fauna (including migratory birds)

The Stadium site has been used for a variety of purposes including:

  • The Goodwill Racecourse
  • Industrial waste tip
  • Nightsoil/sewage/cinder dump

The site is registered as a contaminated site, with acid sulphate soils evident. Discussions have taken place with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) and the Swan River Trust on the approval process and requirements.
